And Then There Are These Moments…

And then there are these moments,
When all feels light and free,
Time slows to a stop.
My soul pours through my hands,
My smile spreads knowingly,
This is life in a single drop.

????????????

It happened in a restaurant, this special moment. That really wasn’t special at all.

We just sat down and my girls eagerly grabbed the paper and crayons to draw. I settled into my chair and glanced over at them, hoping they would entertain themselves long enough for me to look over the menu.

A few minutes passed and I realized they were still drawing. My body melted into my chair a bit more, grateful for what was promising to be a fight-free, complaint-free, need-free experience (a mom can hope!). I looked at them. Really looked at them. I watched how concentrated they were, how peaceful they were, how present they were.

And immediately, I was fully immersed in the moment. Watching with awe these little beings whom I get to mother.

My 8 year old looked up at me with glitter in her chocolate brown eyes, “Mom! I did the maze on the first try!” She was lit up with joy.

My 5 year old followed, “Mom! Look at the strawberry I colored!” Her gorgeous smile filled with thumb-sucked teeth.

Fully here. Fully free. This moment is what all life could be.

????????????

And then there are these moments,
When life makes perfect sense,
When everything seems to light up,
The shine is so intense.

????

I see my entire lifetime,
The lives of my sweet girls,
Flash before me in half a breath,
Sweep through with twists and twirls.

????

My eyes welled up with salty tears,
As I felt the sacred truth.
Then there are these moments,
When love’s surrounding you.

????????????

I grabbed my husband’s hand and whispered, “this is a good day.” And as his hand squeezed mine, I melted deeper into the moment, knowing that it’s always my choice to be here. Or not. Always. My. Choice.

????????????

And then there are these moments,
That dissolve the stress and fear.
My mind clears and my body melts,
It’s my choice to be right here.

????????????

What moments have brought you to deep presence lately?

What moments have felt like a one-ness your Divinity? With Love?

What have you learned from them?

Oh, dear Universe…please help me to slow down and be present…

We all left the restaurant with smiles on our faces, hopping around like we’d just been to Disney World. Rooted to Mother Earth, yet flying through the cosmos.

Not all moments feel so divine. Because I’m not always this present. Or clear. Or rested. Or fill-in-the-blank-with-whatever-keeps-me-from-being-present.

So, I take the lesson learned and infuse the wisdom into my future self, hopeful that I will remember to slow down so I can be here for more of these moments.

Until then…here’s one of my favorite meditations to help me become more present…hope you love it too. 😉 ????

So much love..
