So Let’s Begin…

ONE MORE SUNRISE: WORLD SUICIDE AWARENESS MEDITATION SCRIPT
September is National Suicide Prevention Month and today is World Suicide Day…it’s a time to remember the lives lost to suicide, acknowledge the millions more who have experienced suicidal thoughts, and the many individuals, families and communities that have been impacted by suicide.
It is really important to me to provide some meditations for those who might need them, so I asked my good friend, who has been personally impacted by suicide, to write this week’s meditations. If you or someone you know could use it, please listen and share.
If you feel you need someone to talk with right now, you are not alone. In the U.S., you can call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. If you’re elsewhere, please look online for a local crisis number, or text HOME to 741741 (Crisis Text Line).
Check out our other two specific podcasts below that are featuring a lot of these meditations:

Find a comfortable place,
where your body can rest,
and your heart can soften,
even if only for now.
PAUSE…
Let your eyes close,
and take one deep, slow breath in,
then let it all go.
PAUSE…
Again, breathe in deeply,
and let it go slowly,
as if you’re releasing a weight
you’ve carried for far too long.
LONG PAUSE…
You may feel tired.
You may feel broken.
You may feel like you don’t want to keep going.
It’s okay to admit that here.
You don’t have to hide it from yourself.
PAUSE…
In this quiet moment,
you don’t have to fix anything.
You don’t have to pretend to be okay.
You just have to stay.
Stay here with me.
LONG PAUSE…
Breathe in again,
feeling the small rise of your chest.
Feel your lungs hold life.
Feel the tiniest warmth in your body —
even if it’s just the heat in your hands,
or your heartbeat whispering,
I’m still here.
PAUSE…
You have made it through so many nights.
So many moments you thought would break you.
PAUSE…
Yet here you are,
breathing in,
breathing out,
one more sunrise on the way.
PAUSE…
You do not have to know how to get through tomorrow.
You do not have to solve every problem right now.
You only have to stay here,
for this next breath.
PAUSE…
And the one after that.
And maybe,
just maybe,
for one more sunrise.
LONG PAUSE…
Imagine the soft light of dawn.
Not bright, not harsh —
just gentle,
creeping in through your window,
touching your face,
reminding you —
life still wants you here.
PAUSE…
You may not feel ready.
You may not feel strong.
But you are here.
And that is enough.
PAUSE…
Stay for the sun.
Stay for the warmth.
Stay for the quiet chance that tomorrow might feel a little lighter.
PAUSE…
Stay because you deserve to see what’s on the other side of this pain.
You do not have to believe it all at once.
PAUSE…
Just trust me,
and breathe,
and stay.
PAUSE…
Let your breath be your promise.
Your small, sacred promise:
One more sunrise.
One more chance.
One more moment held in love.
LONG PAUSE…
I am so glad you are here.
And in case no one has told you today, I love you.
PAUSE…
Namaste, Beautiful.
