EMBRACING THE SHADOW SIDE MEDITATION SCRIPT
Quiet.
Find a space,
Both outside
And in,
That’s quiet,
And let yourself
Just lounge there.
PAUSE
Allow yourself
To just kick back
And totally,
Completely,
Relax.
PAUSE
Inside you,
Is a different space,
A different part of yourself that
You push down,
Or ignore,
Or refuse to claim.
This is your shadow self.
PAUSE
And your shadow self
Is an important part of you,
A part that can help you heal.
SHORT PAUSE
So, breathe.
Breathe in and find your center.
Breathe in and hold your calm.
Breathe in and give yourself permission
To acknowledge your shadow self.
PAUSE
Now, breathe some more,
And let yourself visualize
Your shadow self.
What does it look like?
Does it have a shape?
What color is it?
Simply, breathe,
And observe.
PAUSE
Now, imagine smiling
At your Shadow self,
Welcoming it
Into your consciousness.
PAUSE
And, while smiling,
Invite your shadow self
To tell you what
It wants you to know.
Listen.
Accept.
And breathe into your emotions,
To keep them calm,
To keep you
In a very Zen place,
So you can hear.
What do you hear?

Now, take a
Deep, cleansing breath,
A breath that allows you
To see you and your shadow self
As one.
PAUSE
And, as you breathe
Let your consciousness open
To healing the pain,
Or stress,
Or self-doubt,
Of the shadow self.
PAUSE
Now, find the quiet again.
The quiet where you can just be.
PAUSE
Allow yourself to feel
What it’s like to be whole,
To openly embrace
All parts of you.
To openly nurture
Those parts that need it.
To truly acknowledge
How beautiful you are.
To lovingly accept how
perfectly imperfect you are
Because
That is healing,
That is empowering,
That is true self-love.
