She Was Herself
Last week, I had the honor of being recognized as a recipient of the Tampa Bay Business and Wealth Magazine’s Women Who Win Award. They hosted a huge gala to honor women in the community who were making an impact.
I brought my 9 year old daughter as my date and we had the best time! (You can see my reel on Insta!).
I didn’t win the award in my category, and the only reason I was disappointed was because I had an amazing speech that I felt called to share!
So today, I’m sharing it with you. ????
????????????????????
She was herself.
And that’s what made her beautiful.
She was herself.
And that’s what made her shine.
She was herself.
And danced and played with the universe.
She was herself.
She understood her design.
A few years ago, I got my girls a beautiful wall art that had this saying on it, “she was herself and that’s what made her beautiful.”

It inspired this meditation (you can listen to the whole thing HERE!)
You see, I started the Women’s Meditation Network 7 years ago. A podcaster, a writer, and someone who knew I just wanted to speak special words into the soul of the woman who was listening.
It started with one podcast, and we now have 20 podcasts, whose episodes have been downloaded 180 million times since we began. (Whaaaaat?!?!????)
More important to me than those numbers, however, are the incredible women who are listening. Over the years, I’ve heard stories of cancer, burnout, depression, insomnia and brokenness that have led them to our meditations. And then I’ve heard stories of hope, space, lightness and freedom as they’ve pressed play and surrendered to the meditation experience.
I stand here today soaked in gratitude for the work that I do. Grateful that what I create as an artist resonates so deeply with so many people!
As I was thinking about this award, it struck me that every single woman in here is here because they have bravely “been themselves,” just like my wall art says. You have followed your own heart, guided by your internal knowing and have created work that really matters. Work that makes an impact. Work that is the expression of your unique passion.
And the results…measured in numbers and emails and tears and smiles…simply confirm this alignment.
I believe that when we are truly OURSELVES, we each shine our unique light onto this world, exactly as we’re meant to. And we all do it a little differently, so what’s created is this magical rainbow of light that embraces our world.
Tonight, I’m deeply touched that you have all recognized my light. And even more grateful that I have the honor of being with my daughter, whose own light is immeasurable.
Because she is herself. And that’s what makes her beautiful.
You are yourself. And that’s what makes you shine.
