Tonight’s sleep meditation will help your body and soul rest when you’re overwhelmed with all the suffering in the world.
Your heart feels heavy,
And your eyes are threatened with tears.
You see another story of suffering,
Another reminder of the darkness in our world.
And it invades your soul.
Whether the suffering has touched you directly,
Or someone you have never met,
These deep emotions are a reminder that we are all connected.
This feeling of overwhelm can make you feel helpless, or depressed, or hopeless.
Tonight’s meditation will help you flush out those deep emotions.
And invite you to see that the only way to transcend the suffering in the world is through compassion, forgiveness and shining your own light as bright as you possibly can.
So Let’s Begin…

WHEN YOU’RE OVERWHELMED WITH ALL THE SUFFERING IN THE WORLD SLEEP MEDITATION SCRIPT
Go ahead and settle yourself deeply into comfort.
Close your eyes and and settle yourself in,
Making any adjustments to your body,
Releasing any tension or discomfort.
And then find the sleeping position you know so well,
And nestle in softly here.
PAUSE…
Feel the rhythm of your breath,
Letting it fill you as you breathe in,
And relax you as you breathe out.
LONG PAUSE…
Take a moment to bring to mind some of the suffering you’ve seen or experienced lately.
Maybe it’s one specific scene or vision.
Or perhaps it’s a culmination of stories you’ve been seeing.
Whatever it is, hold this vision in your mind for a moment.
PAUSE…
Notice the emotions that arise.
Sadness.
Anger.
Fear.
Guilt.
Hopelessness.
Just recognize any of the emotions you may be feeling.
Not allowing it to engulf you,
But simply recognizing its presence.
PAUSE…
What a beautiful heart you have, dear one.
Feeling so deeply for the suffering around you.
Honor these emotions in you.
You are human.
You are love.
You are light.
PAUSE…
Take a deep breath in now,
Gathering up all those emotions,
All those visions,
And then exhale completely,
Pushing them all out of you,
And watching them dissolve into the night.

Another deep breath in,
Gathering up any heaviness or thoughts that are left inside,
And then breath out,
All the way out,
As they release from your body,
Release from your mind,
Release from this moment.

Find the gentle rhythm of your breath,
And let your body sink deeper into your bed.

We are all connected.
So let us be the light that cuts through the darkness.
Let us be the song in the room of silence.
Let us be kindness when all seems mean.

Breathe in strength and love,
And breathe out compassion.

Compassion for those suffering,

And offer healing for them all.
