The intention of tonight’s meditation is to guide you gently into the deep, restful sleep your body needs.
Even though your mind wants to keep you awake with tasks to do, responsibilities to hold or life to ponder.
Sleep is here…and she’s waiting for you.
So Let’s Begin…
WHEN YOU’RE EXHAUSTED BUT AWAKE MEDITATION SCRIPT
So go ahead and close your eyes as you settle into comfort.
And just notice how it feels to close your eyes.
Maybe you can feel your eyelids twitch softly as they begin to surrender to the sleep they’ve been fighting.
Perhaps you can feel the moment when their heaviness finally takes over and your entire face falls and relaxes,
As your cheeks soften,
And your jaw releases,
Your tongue drops from the roof of your mouth,
And your forehead relaxes.
Feel the heaviness of your eyes sink you further into the night.
Now bring your attention to your stomach.
Observe how it rises and falls with every breath.
Feel it filling with air as you breathe in,
And releasing air as you breathe out.
Now see if you can take a deep breath in,
Inviting your stomach to grow as big as it can as you fill your body with cool air,
And exhaling it all the way out.
Imagining that every breath out releases a thought,
Imagine that each breath in invites in cleansing oxygen, gathering up all the happenings of the day,
And the array of emotions and thoughts that have been stored inside your body,
And on each exhale, imagine the air extracting all of it, releasing it out into the dark night around you.
Watch them dissolve into tiny grains of dust that disappear around you.
Breathe in, gather it all up,
And breathe out, letting it all go.
Your body is ready to sleep, beautiful.
And your mind is liquid, eager for a rest.
Surrender to the calming depths of sleep.
It is safe for you here,
It is healing for you here.
With a calm, relaxed body,
And a quiet, soft mind,
Imagine that you’re floating on your back in a smooth and safe pool of water.
The warm temperature relaxes your muscles,
As the cool air of the night kisses your cheeks.
Notice your outstretched arms and legs, completely surrendered to the water,
Trusting it will hold you,
Feel yourself surrender,
Give yourself to the water.
Letting your arms float,
Your legs part and release,
Your stomach relax.
Feel as the water trickles between your fingers as they part,
Your toes as they soften and release,
And relaxes your head as it touches its crown.
Sweet Dreams, Beautiful
