The intention of today’s meditation is to help you to stop comparing yourself and quiet your mind when it feels like it’s screaming with judgments against you, for not having a life that looks like theirs.
You are exactly where you need to be right now.
And everyone you see around you, all those people who you think have it all together,
Or are so successful,
Or are doing it so much better than you are,
Those people to whom you’re comparing yourself,
They are exactly where they need to be.
Their journey is not your journey.
And, just like yours…it’s not perfect. No matter how refined it might look from the outside.
You are living your own, magical life…full of its own turns, twists and timing.
So the intention of today’s meditation is to help you quiet your mind when it feels like it’s screaming with judgements against you, for not having a life that looks like theirs.
To help you stop comparing yourself to others,
And embrace the imperfect perfection of your life right now.
So Let’s Begin…

Stop Comparing Yourself to Others Script
Let’s begin by getting into a comfortable position, sitting or lying down.
Close your eyes and take a deep breath in, feeling the oxygen go deep into your body as it fills your belly,
And release all the way out.
Now just bring your attention to the regular rhythm of your breath, feeling your body get heavier and more relaxed with every breath out.
And just stay here for a bit…keeping your attention on your breath.
Maybe even silently saying to yourself, breathe in, when you breathe in.
And breathe out when you breathe out.
PAUSE…

To help stop comparing yourself, I want you to imagine yourself walking on a path.
It’s a dirt path, winding its way through nature, carving a place for itself through green grass and flowers and rocks.
And there you are, slowly walking on it, feeling the crunch of the gravel under your shoes as your eyes look ahead.
PAUSE…
As your eyes follow the path ahead of you, you catch a glimpse of someone in the far distance.
At first, you’re curious…wondering who they are and what they’re doing.
But then you feel a heaviness in your belly.
Jealousy.
Envy.
Self judgements.
Your mind starts to race.
Why is she so far ahead of me? You wonder to yourself.
How did she get there?
Why is she in the most luscious, beautiful part of the path and I’m still here on the dirt?
You feel your mood shift.
You feel unsettled.
Frustrated.
Stressed and anxious.
Comparing your place on the path with hers.
PAUSE…and let's stop comparing yourself

You take a deep breath in, letting the fresh air fill your belly and cleanse your mind.
I am exactly where I need to be right now, you hear your inner voice say.
And you feel the wisdom of those words wash over you like soft, flowing water, washing those negative thoughts away.
You take your eyes off of the woman ahead and instead, turn your attention onto you.
And what you now notice with your full attention astounds you…
The tiny flowers that surround you, decorating your path with color and welcoming fragrances.
The strength of your body as it bravely takes one step at a time.
The small opening to your left, a road to a new adventure that you wouldn’t have seen if your eyes would have been focused on the woman ahead of you.
The road falling behind you as you progress, peppered with incredible memories and timely lessons learned.
Take a moment to look around and notice what else you see on your path.
Breathe, stop comparing yourself
PAUSE…
You are exactly where you need to be right now.
And this path is yours.
There may be others who walk beside you for a time.
Or are miles ahead of you.
But these are mere moments of intersection.
And have nothing to do with your wondrous journey.
PAUSE…
So take a moment to take another look around you and stop comparing yourself.
And every time you breathe in, breathe in gratitude for where you are right now.
Gratitude for the path behind you and who it’s helped you become.
Gratitude for the pace at which you’re moving.
Gratitude for the privilege to walk this path and be on this journey.
Breathe in gratitude.
And as you do, notice that everything around you becomes more colorful, vibrant and focused.
This will help you to stop comparing yourself
PAUSE…

You are extraordinary.
And you’re exactly where you are supposed to be right now.
Namaste, Beautiful
