Today’s honor your mother meditation will help you send love to the woman who raised you. This could be your birth mother, your adopted mother or even a woman who has been a mother figure for you throughout your life.

She gave you life. Literally or figuratively.
She modeled love…unconditional, true love.
She helped mold you into the woman you are today.
Your mother.
So the intention of today’s meditation is to honor your mother. This could be your birth mother, your adopted mother or even a woman who has been a mother figure for you throughout your life.
So Let’s Begin
HONOR YOUR MOTHER MEDITATION SCRIPT
Let’s begin by closing your eyes and getting into a comfortable position.
Let your body relax.
Let your mind start to slow down.
And let yourself feel your breath.
Feel the oxygen entering your body, expanding your chest and belly.
And feel your breath leave through your exhale as your body pulls back in.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Come into this moment.
PAUSE…
Let an image of your mother come to mind.
It could be your mother as you know her in the present moment,
Or a memory you have of her as a younger woman.
Just hold the image of her in your mind.
Let yourself observe her.
Notice her eyes,
Her facial expression,
Her hair,
Her posture.
Imagine she’s sitting in her favorite chair,
A smile on her face, ready to be with you.
You feel special. Loved. Grateful.
PAUSE…

I love you, mom, you hear yourself say.
And you see her face soften and light up.
So you continue…
You have taught me what love is.
Not because you told me. But because you showed me.
You showed me through your tenderness, your toughness, your discipline and your play.
You’ve modeled for me what it means to be a woman,
And that foundation has helped me blossom into my own version of womanhood.
I love you. Even though you made mistakes. Even though there are things that I haven’t agreed with.
I love you. Unconditionally.
Thank you for being you.
I’m so grateful I am your daughter.

PAUSE…
Now take a moment to look at your mother.
See her eyes glazed lightly with tears, notice her body is relaxed and settled.
See how lit up she is by hearing your words.
What else do you want to say to her?
For the next few minutes, the music will play without guidance from me as you allow yourself to shower your mother with any thoughts or expressions of love you’d like to share with her.
Remember that this is a safe space for you.
Now take a deep breath in, and on your exhale, relax your body further into your position…
And let yourself speak to your mother…
PAUSE…
Now bring your attention back to your breath.
And come back here into the present moment.
Your mother didn’t do it all perfectly,
But today, let her feel your love and appreciation.
Because what she did do right is you.
Namaste, Beautiful.
The Story Behind the Meditation
When I sat down to write this special meditation, I found myself stuck. Because I knew that there is such a wide variety of experiences and relationships each of us has with our mothers. Some of you have had to endure the passing of your mom. Some of you have never met your birth mother and have been raised by another woman. And some of you may have a strained, complicated relationship with your mom.
How could I possibly write a meditation that universally spoke to every single woman listening?
I realized that I couldn’t. That instead, I would write a note to my mother, in hopes that you might relate to most of it.
And then I left you a lot of quiet time within this meditation so you could fill your meditation with visions that are special to you and your mother.
I really hope it’s a special meditation for you, one that you can do anytime you want to connect with the mother-figure you’ve been blessed to have in your life.
As a way to honor my mom, the incredible woman who gave birth to and raised SIX kids, I wanted to share the full note I wrote for her as a gift this Mother’s Day. The most common way I describe my mom to others is this: She was put on this earth to BE A MOM. She and my dad are phenomenal parents and I am truly lucky that I have them as such in this life.
For you mama…
You have taught me what true love is.
Not because you told me. But because you show me.
You show me through your tenderness, your toughness, your discipline and your play.
You’ve modeled for me what it means to be a woman,
And that foundation has helped me blossom into my own version of womanhood.
You've modeled for me what it means to love yourself.
And that has given me a solid foundation of self-confidence that continues to help me navigate life on my terms.
You've modeled for me what graceful aging looks like. You've never been ashamed of your age and are actually quite proud of all the life you've lived and have yet to live.
You've modeled for me what it means to be a loving caregiver. By pouring your care into each of your kids, your husband, your parents, your inlaws, your friends and anyone else who has ever needed your care. You remind me that there is always more love to give…that it never runs out.
You've modeled for me what it means to be a PHENOMENAL MOM. A woman who exudes love with everything she does.
I love you.
Thank you for being you.
I’m so grateful I am your daughter.
